I keep catching myself looking at a shelf where this lovely little piece sits today. It's a quote from Watership Down and was made by astichedreverie.

The full quote is—

That being said, why the fuck are so many people comfortable saying the most xenophobic stuff about Argentinians?

The way that when I tried to ask the local HOA (hypocritical opinionated assholes) about how to deal with the Airbnb next door (using our trash cans, throwing trash over the fence, throwing old food that Nightshade got sick from, fucking with the front yard water line, one visitor yelling at me for cutting my own damn tree while one of them was eating but also none of the visitors obeying any noise ordinances themselves.

A constant surge of customers who stay anywhere from 2 days to 3 months. Aggressive dogs that bark and growl and claw at the fence until my own dog is afraid to pee outside without me, parking in front of our house so we get ticketed instead etc)

And the only answer was ‘call the police.’

Like ffs I’ll keep going over and knocking and asking them to turn off the light that shines into our kitchen and blinds me so I walk into walls. I’ll keep yelling over the fence saying ‘oh hey there is a dust storm coming’ because these morons didn’t look up the local weather and are about to risk their kids health by staying in the pool when a dust storm hits. Seriously you shouldn’t have kids if you’re going to be that stupid. Like you’re gonna kill your kids lungs and there are spores in the dust that will infect you depending on where it comes from!! The dust travels miles and can be dangerous here. They’ll even leave their pets out in storms and pets are also susceptible!

And I’m also going to keep snidely mocking all of them with ‘wow, I guess politeness really is a thing of the past’ when we’re outside listening to low music and they decide to blast music at us because ‘they’re on vacation and deserve to let loose’

This isn’t a resort.

This is a neighborhood.

I know the owner rents for dirtcheap and doesn’t enforce any rules.

But the people who live here aren’t on vacation like you. The people on the other side of you are elderly with a little dog and we’re a house full of disabled queers and everyone is just trying to live their regular life.

That is constantly being interrupted by assholery.

Renting for just a little bit doesn’t mean you can treat this area like it’s your own personal yard. Stop letting your kids lay down in the middle of the roads or bike on them when there are sidewalks and trails for that! There is a school behind us! We have tons of school and work traffic and these idiots are like ‘omg the kids should be allowed to play’

Okay. Take them to where it’s safe to play. Don’t unleash them where the cars are supposed to go!!

We have very small streets. There is sometimes not room to avoid things like children refusing to get out of the road.

But as pissed as I am I’m still not calling the police.

Being an asshole isn’t actually a reason to be killed. Which is probably what would happen.

I Hate both HOA’s AND people who buy houses to rent them out for profit without care. I’ve seen the owner have to remove furniture and rugs twice since living here. Because his own tenants ruined everything and still nothing changes. Because he can afford to just buy new and that’s easier.

Worst of the work week is OVER! Today was the completion date for a major priority project I was helping to lead, and it was a big success!

Execs are happy. Boss is happy. My team is happy. Everybody is happy - and tired as fuck.

Going to go collapse. And at some point when I wake up, I'll finally be able to get back to the important things in life: fanfiction and obsessing over the sad and repressed square-headed man.
